The recent earthquake in Sichuan on 20 April has once again resulted in devastating damage to the city. Initiated by Raymond Lee, CEO of Greater China, Savills, fund-raising among Savills staff received staunch support, with donations totaling HK$2.23 million.

In particular, a cheque with HK$1 million was presented to Mr Kevin Chiu, CEO of World Vision Hong Kong by Robert McKellar, CEO of Asia Pacific, Savills and Raymond Lee at a ceremony held at Savills Hong Kong office.  The rest of the donation was pledged to the Relief Office of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Robert McKellar said, “We definitely need to help these people in such a difficult time. Savills is more than happy and feel obliged to show our concern for the people affected by this disaster.”

Raymond Lee said, “The earthquake has affected thousands of people. We believe that we have to help those who are in desperate need by donating some money. We have decided upon World Vision as we understand they are doing great post-earthquake relief work, such as reconstructing houses, setting up temporary school tents and distributing hygiene kits.”

All Savills staff responded immediately with donations flooding in. At the Central Headquarters alone, numerous cheques were received in one day. Raymond commented, “The support from all staff and the Group is highly appreciated, and we will continue to demonstrate Savills concern by giving a helping hand to those in need.”
