Shenzhen Retail

After hitting a low point in 2015, the city’s retail sales rebounded totalling RMB551 billion in 2016, up 8.1% year-on-year (YoY).

In Q3/2016, the city experienced a downward trend in housing prices, according to statistics provided by the Urban Planning Land and Resources Commission of Shenzhen Municipality. With households and individuals increasingly restricted from making home purchases or upgrades, it is expected that some of this excess capital will find its way into the local retail market, as potential home buyers with few alternative investment options spend their rising incomes on consumer goods.
