The Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Macao is part of a huge casino and resort complex. The retail portion occupies a vast space of 1,200,000 sq ft of approximately 350 retail units.
Objective: Savills was appointed as the sole leasing agent, consultant and commenced marketing in November 2005, with the main leasing activities being focused over 2006. Our challenge was to lease a greenfield site in a city with a relatively young retail market.
What Savills did: The Savills team held more than 1,000 meetings in total. We conducted road shows in Singapore, China and Thailand and also visited Milan in an effort to source key retailers. Members of the team flew to over nine countries around the world to market the project. A charter flight was also arranged for representatives of various international brands to experience the grandeur and elegance of The Venetian Las Vegas. This monumental effort proved effective in winning each retailer’s vote of confidence, as the majority of them are now tenants.
Result: The Savills team successfully secured many international brands to The Venetian Macao with full occupancy at the 350 shop spaces in the Grand Canal Shoppes. Tenants include the Swatch Group: representing Omega, Blancpain, Glashutte Original, and Rado; opened their flagship stores in the hotel mall. Other brands include: Zara, Hugo Boss, I.T, Links of London, Furla, Just Cavali, Tiffany, Montblanc, Bvlgari, Mikimoto, Chopard, Coach, and many popular restaurants.
What the client said: "Savills has been providing services to the Venetian Macao since 2005. During that time they have provided retail consultancy advice, management consultancy and leasing services. Specifically with respect to leasing, Savills was our exclusive leasing agent for the Venetian Macao, and has leased most of The Grand Canal Shoppes and a significant proportion of The Shoppes at Four Seasons.Savills performed this role with professionalism and we are grateful for their services rendered.”
