This extensive portfolio comprises 45 properties of over 5.5 million sq ft prime government assets located across Hong Kong Island. Over 250 on-site Savills staff and around 150 cleaners were deployed for this important contract.
Savills has been the sole managing agent for the GPA portfolio since 2004. This is now Savills third successive management contract with the HKSAR government.
The government of the HKSAR
Savills prepared for potential security threats to the government’s Wanchai complex during the WTO Conference (MC6) which was held in the adjacent Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in December 2005. Our contingency plan exposed any possible security risks by arranging detailed evacuation drills and setting up a command centre to mobilise resources, such as labour and materials, to the complex. Over 100 extra Savills security guards were deployed. As a result, the building's operation was unaffected during the meeting.
Savills focus was also on energy saving initiatives, such as:
- Setting ambient room temperatures of 25.5°C in all joint user buildings;
- Adjusting lift operation mode hours;
- Switching off/delamping unnecessary lighting in common areas;
- Implementing waste separation and recycling programmes in all joint user buildings and staff quarters.
Additionally, Savills successfully coordinated extensive upgrading projects including external wall recladding works in two office blocks, security system upgrade work in the main site, and external wall renovation work and internal renovation in the residential units.
